Condition

Original canvas. The surface is dirty and covered with a layer of varnish. There is a slight discoloration around the edges, from a period spent behind a frame. There is craquelure visible in the sky and sea. There are some stray spots of brown in the sky, and a larger stray pigment spot of black near center left. Under UV no pigment appears to fluoresce but varnish prevents a conclusive analysis. Held in a wooden frame.
