Catalogue Note
For a related example, please see The Bortz Collection, Sotheby's London, May 29, 1998, lot 8 and more recently sold Sotheby's New York, April 24, 2013. The field pattern of these two rugs are virtually identical, albeit with slight differences in color and secondary motifs as well as differing numbers of stylized palmettes. The present example remains in near original condition, retaining highly lustrous wool and its sides and ends.
