Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Finch, Earls of Winchilsea and Nottingham, probably for George Finch, 9th Earl of Winchilsea and 4th Earl of Nottingham, K.G., who was born in 1752 and succeeded to the titles upon the death of his uncle on 2 August 1769. He, who was not married and died without legitimate issue in 1826, was sometime Lord Lieutenant of Rutland.
