These examples come from an extensive glass service produced in the early 20th century, other examples from the service was sold at Christies, 31 October 2002. The glasses bear the monogram of King Frederick the Great and whilst it is uncertain why the service was commissioned, a possibility is that it was to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the King's birthday.
