now upholstered in modern floral needlework, one with a 19th century reading easel
Condition
Chair 1 has its easel made in the 19th century; the stretcher repaired in the ends and with a break in the centre, arms possibly early 18th century, needlework seat coverings from 19th century in good condition; there are repairs and reconstructed pieces throughout and flaws and losses to wood.
Chair 2 is also covered in 19th century needlework in good condition, having had the seat probably reconstructed, the arms are probably of earlier date that the rest of structure; there are repairs and throughout and the surface shows a dark polished tone with some stretcher pieces not in walnut but in stained fruitwood; marks and scratches and losses.
