Condition

This signed work appears slightly less yellow in tone than the catalogue reproduction suggests. The canvas weave is strong and in very good condition. It is unlined, and still tight on its stretcher. There was a small tear lower right that has been expertly repatched and also sensitively repaired on the painted side, barely detectable with the naked eye. The paint surface could use a new varnish, as it is quite dry and could potentially begin to flake soon. But there has been no loss of paint so far, nor is there sign of any critical situation. Inspection under Ultraviolet light shows the repairs of the aforementioned tear and some light infilling of craquelure upper right. The canvas has an old, now uneven, varnish. This fantastic painting is sold in a wooden frame painted black with ann inner patterned edge painted gold, in good condition.
