Catalogue Note
The '101ers' was Joe Strummer's first group, named after their squat at 101 Walterton Terrace or maybe after "Room 101" in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four.
On 3 April 1976, the Sex Pistols opened for The 101'ers at a venue called "The Nashville Rooms" in London. Strummer commented about the show: "5 seconds into their first song, I knew we were like yesterday's paper, we were over." He left the band for The Clash and became a major figure of the British Punk movement.
