Catalogue Note

An evocative relic of Jimi Hendrix at the "Newport 69" rock festival, held at Devonshire Downs, California, where he was the headliner. The strap appears in many Hendrix photographs as well as on Youtube videos of his performance. The strap was given to Albert and Arthur Allen, the "Ghetto Fighters," who shared an apartment with him, appeared with him in a free concert in Harlem in 1969 and recorded three albums with him, Cry of Love, Rainbow Bridge and War Heroes. A typed letter signed by Arthur Allen is included with this lot.
