Catalogue Note
Dylan inscribes in the year it was released, referencing the album's epic last song, "Don't spend too much time peeking / into Desolation Row / Bob / Dylan / 1965." A fantastic narrative of characters historical, literary and biblical, seemingly equally inspired by the tawdriness of lower Eighth Avenue, Kerouac's Desolation Angels and the Cannery Row of Steinbeck, Dylan's bold blue pencil incorporates some of the song in his inscription: "And though her eyes are fixed upon / Noah's great rainbow /She spends her time peeking / Into Desolation Row."
