Catalogue Note
“Kissin’ Cousins” was Elvis’s 14th film and 20th studio album. The film, released in March 1964 starred Elvis as an Army officer assigned to convince his Smokey Mountain clan to let the army build a missile site on their land. His plans are thwarted by a look-alike “cousin” (also played by Elvis in a blonde wig), and two beautiful relatives played by Yvonne Craig and Pamela Austin. The film grossed $3mil at North American box offices and the record peaked at number 6 on the Billboard pop charts. Unfortunately for Elvis, the Beatles had just released their first record in America, the singles from which occupied the top 5 spots.
