a group of 3 photographs, each ferrotyped, signed, dated, and 2 titled, in pencil, and 2 with credit or copyright stamps, on the reverse, each framed, 1950-82, printed later (fotoform, pp. 26, 52, and 93) (3)

Provenance

Christie's Los Angeles, 26 June 1997, Sale 8674, Lot 95

Condition

These three prints, each on double-weight paper, are in generally good condition. There is evidence of handling on each photograph: a few fingerprints, some soft and sharp handling creases, and wear to the edges and corners are visible in raking light. As is frequently seen with ferrotyped prints, occasional pitting of the glossy surface is visible overall. Scattered surface scratches, likely a result of the ferrotyping process, and deposits of original retouching are also visible upon close examination. Each print has numerical notations in pencil on the reverse. Snow Abstraction - This print is titled in German in pencil and has the photographer's copyright stamp on the reverse. Chairs in Shadow - This print is titled in German in pencil and has the photographer's credit stamp on the reverse.
