Condition
These early platinum prints, each double-mounted, are in generally very good to excellent condition.
'Hamilton, Twilite' - This early platinum print, with a range of tones, is tipped to a buff-colored paper mount that is trimmed to 1/8-inch at the periphery. That mount is tipped to a similarly-colored underlying paper mount that is trimmed 1/4-inch. The edges of the underlying mount are rubbed, and the paper is lightly soiled. There is light soiling and age-darkening on the reverse of the mount, with paper remnants in the center, likely from a prior mounting. In addition to the photographer's penciled signature, date, and title on the reverse, there are the following annotations in pencil: 'AK139,' 'S.379,' 'Plat,' '225,' 'HGMH32,' and 'PF16792.'
Sailboats in Harbor near Chester, Nova Scotia - This print, with delicately-inked edges, is on a double mount. The print is attached to a buff-colored paper mount that is trimmed to 1/4-inch at the periphery. The underlying darker buff-colored medium-weight paper mount, with a deckled edge at the right side, exhibits age-darkening and light foxing overall and on the reverse, but especially at the upper right. This does not appear to affect the print. There is a tear at the right edge of the mount that has been repaired with paper tape on the reverse. Near the upper and lower left corners of the mount, there are faint deposits of an indeterminate nature.
