Catalogue Note
Ilse Bing fait partie, avec Aenne Bierman, Florence Henri, Dora Maar, Rogi André, Gisèle Freund ou Berencie Abbott - entre autres - du groupe des "femmes photographes", actives dans les années 1920 et 1930. Elle fut célèbre à l'époque comme "reine du Leica", en se servant exclusivement de ce nouvel appareil pour ses prises de vue spontanées et poétiques de Paris. Comme l'était Berlin dans les années 1920, Paris fut à cette époque le centre de la photographie moderniste. L'aura de cette ville fut le sujet de prédilection de toute une scène de photographes internationaux comme André Kertész, Brassai, Man Ray, Germaine Krull et Lee Miller.
