Catalogue Note
Luigi Valadier est l'orfèvre italien le plus célèbre du XVIIIe siècle. Son nom français est dû à son père qui quitta sa Provence natale pour s'installer à Rome vers 1720. Luigi est né à Rome en 1726. En 1754, il est apprenti auprès de son père. Il épouse le fille du sculpteur Filiberto della Valle en 1756. Il devient orfèvre en 1760 et travaillera jusqu'en 1785, année de sa mort.
