Catalogue Note
Les armes sont celles du baron William Hope (1802-1855), fils aîné du banquier et marchand John Williams-Hope (1757-1813), adopté par le célèbre banquier Henry Hope. La banque avait son siège à Amsterdam. En 1833, William Hope décide de se fixer à Paris. Il y épouse en 1835 la fille du général Rapp. En 1838, il achète et transforme un très grand hôtel particulier rue Saint Dominique (aujourd'hui n° 57) comprenant entre autres des écuries pour 36 chevaux. Il meurt à Paris en 1855.
