Overall the condition of the bronze is good with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age including some dirt to the crevices. There is some rubbing to the patina at the high points. There are a few minor lacunae to the surface due to casting flaws, notably on the left and lower edges. There is a small loss to the lower left corner.

The prototype for the present plaque is mounted on a casket by Fontana in the Reiche Kapelle, Munich. Another cast is in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no. A.2-1960)
