- Set of twelve profile reliefs of Emperors
- ivory, mounted within a velvet lined gilt wood frame
- Italian, late 18th/ early 19th century
each relief with a title plaque respectively inscribed: G. CESARE, C.AUGUSTO, TIBERIO, C.CALIGOLA, CLAUDIO, NERONE.C, S.GALBA, OTTONE, A.VITELLIO, VESPASIANO.A, TITO.V., DOMIZIANO and the reverse with an old paper label numbered: 55 and inscribed in pen: 265 and no. ...
Condition
Overall the condition of the ivories is good with minor dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age. There is minor stable splitting to the ivory consistent with material. A few small sections are carved separately and a few sections are reattached, such as the back of Augustus' fillet. There are a few paint/ glue residues. There are a few small losses to the frame and some lacunae.
