depicting Tarquin and Lucretia, inscribed TARQUIN ROVMEIN and LABELE LVCRESSE respectively. In later gilt bronze mounted ebonized wood frames.

Condition

Both with later clear lacquer to consolidate surface. Each with restorations around entire edge (gilt inscriptions repainted). Standard surface abrasions and hairline cracks. Small losses. Gilding refreshed. Lucretia: overpainted restoration to her proper right shoulder and between breasts. Tarquin: overpainted areas of restoration on his neck and along edge (lower half) of his drapery, and to knotted area of drapery on shoulder. Chip at approximately 9 o'clock.
