Catalogue Note
A series of similar drawings by the artist, from the Beauchamp Collection, were sold London, Christie's,15 June 1965. It is not known exactly why Tiepolo made these studies of putti and amorini, although the substantial series may have been inspired by Giambattista's Stanza dei Putti at the Villa Valmarana.
