    a) signed with the artist's monogram: J.W.

    d) and e) Brush and black and gray wash, heightened with white on gray prepared paper

Condition

All window mounted. a) There is a thin border of discoloration to the four edges of the sheet, probably as a result of an old mount. There is a vertical crease (circa 27 mm) that runs vertically from the lower left corner. There is a further crease and some minor cracking to the sheet in the lower right corner and two old creases to the upper right corner. There is some light wear to the four edges and small blemishes and stains to the sheet itself. b) There is a thin border of discoloration to the edges of the sheet and a feint mark that runs horizontally across the width of the sheet, through the right hand of the Saint. There is some general wear to the four edges and an old crease to the lower right corner. There are some small stains and blemishes. The image itself is strong. c) There are a few small brown stains to the sheet, most notably under the Saint's left arm and to the left of his right elbow. There is a further small blemish to the upper right corner and some general wear to the four edges. The image itself is strong. d) There is a thin border of discoloration to the four edges of the sheet, most probably as a result of an old mount as well as some general wear. There are some small blemishes throughout but generally the image itself is still strong. e) There is some general wear to the four edges and some small blemishes to the sheet itself. Generally in fine condition.
