Catalogue Note
This design is for another piece intended for Feth-Ali, Shah of Persia (see lot 133). At the center of the salver is the collar of the Order of the Legion of Honour, founded by Napoleon. Above to the right is a design for a lion-footed base. The small cup in the top left corner is a design for the cups which were intended to sit in the circles on the salver, making it a work designed with middle eastern habits of serving refreshments in mind.
