Condition

Window mounted. Tiny scattered foxmarks in the sky, barely visible. Some losses to the pigment, mainly concentrated around the outer edges. A small circular loss upper right corner. There appears to be a small water stain in the lower right corner. Otherwise colours are strong and vibrant and overall image good. Sold in a carved and gilded frame.

Catalogue Note

Jean-Baptiste Lallemand produced a large amount of work in both gouache and watercolour, predominantly in the landscape genre.  Other Parisian views by Lallemand were sold, New York, Christie's, 10 January 1996, lots 221 and 222.  For another view across the Seine see also lot 113.
