The canvas is slightly loose on its stretcher. To the naked eye is visible areas of very thin paint on the bishop's clothing, and on the figures in the lower left side of the painting. In parts the ground pigment is visible. Inspection under UV light reveals infilling of craquelure all along the upper edge and along the edge by the frame vertically, and in the lower part of the composition. Retouching on a larger area behind the shoulder of the priest, on the figure lower left, on the hair of the Virgin, and the drapery near her feet, as well as on the clothing of the man on the right hands side. More recently, restoration has been carried out on the drapery of the female figure on the lower right side. The woman on the right has not been restored, and all the faces of the figures are untouched. This lot is offered in a simple frame, gilt, with some surface deterioration along the lower edge, ortherwise sound.
