The canvas is relined and the paint surface is secure and stable. There are some areas of localised retouchings, the most significant of which are; a one inch square patch in the upper left of the sky, a small area to the left of the gentleman's right heel and to the gaskin, thigh and croup of the grey. Otherwise there are only minor scattered retouchings throughout, the varnish is patchy in areas. The signature has possibly been strengthened. In very good overall condition.
