Description

Condition
The copper panel is flat and in good condition with a wood protective backing. Overall the paint surface is in very good condition - the paint remains thick and details well-preserved. There is a tiny surface scratch measuring 2 cm. on the lower stair in the centre, and a small area paint beginning to lift in the blue drape upper left visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows retouching around the edges to areas of frame rubbing, to three small areas in the aforementioned drape upper left, small repairs to the male figure lower left corner, and tiny scattered retouchings in the tiled floor. Otherwise restoration is limited to only a small number of tiny scattered spot retouchings throughout scattered in the figures.
Offered in a gilt wood frame with decorative mouldings of later date, a few minor knocks but structurally sound.
