Literature
A. Scarpa Sonino, Jacopo Amigoni, Soncino 1994, p. 76, cat. no. 7, reproduced.
Condition
The canvas has a firm and recent relining which has not flattened the clean paint surface. To the naked eye it seems that there are various passages of uneven paint which are probably the result of recent restoration. Inspection under UV light confirms the localised but extensive retouchings and areas of restoration. Can hang now and offered in an elaborate carved wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
Scarpa Sonnino suggests this may have been painted early on in Amigoni’s English period and is thus datable either to the late 1720s or early 1730s.
