Condition

The panel has been thinned and has had its old cradling removed. There are a number of old splits in the wood, four minor ones reaching up from the lower margin, one measuring 20 cm. upper left, 16 cm. upper centre, one measuring 20 cm. lower left, and the longest measuring approximately 48 cm. down the centre of the panel. There are a number of repaired horizontal scratches visible under ultraviolet light: 14cm long centre left and 7 cm. long centre right. Overall the paint surface is in good condition. The hem of St Augustine's robe has been repainted. Apart from that the surface is very good.] Offered in a parcel gilt and painted wood frame, numerous chips and losses but otherwise secure.
