Catalogue Note

The present drawing from Vincent's sojourn in Rome, 1771-1775, is similar in the handling of the black chalk to another study  from his Roman period, executed in the same media, now in the Fondation Custodia, Paris. That drawing, which is signed and dated 1773, represents a view of the countryside around Tivoli with an artist sketching.
