Catalogue Note
This very interesting sheet, bearing an old attribution to Sacchi, seems instead to be by an artist working in Lorrain, in the first half of the seventeenth century, influenced by the style of personalities such as Callot and Bellange. The artist also appears to be inspired by knowledge of some of Raphael’s similar horses and riders.
