Catalogue Note

One of the most iconic styles in the Dogon corpus is that of Bombu-Toro, famously represented by the two couples in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia.  The Kunin figure is distinguished by its harmonious design and refined treatment of details.  For a stylistically related figure see Leloup (1994: pl. 82).
