Catalogue Note

Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri was first performed in Leipzig in December 1843. Despite difficulties with performers and with the Sing-Akademie directors, one of whom was Schumann's correspondent here, Carl Friedrich Rungenhagen (1778-1851), the performance in Berlin on 17 February 1847, during the last stage of a four-month tour to Vienna, Brno, Prague and Berlin, was well received.
