here titled "Le Brigadier Cléopâtre", the working manuscript of the full score for voices and orchestra in three acts, containing some music cut from the published vocal score, comprising eighteen numbers, each with an autograph title page, notated on up to twenty-two staves per page, with many alterations and revisions, some written on pieces of paper pasted into the score, and including some characteristically heavy deletions in black ink, the score marked up for performance in orange and blue crayon (cuts and repeats, tempo markings, rehearsal letters, bar numbers), each number paginated by the composer in ink, annotations in pencil, with the characters Thérèse, Catalina, Le Brigadier and others
over 700 pages, folio (c.35 x 27cm), 22-stave paper by Lard-Esnault, on unbound bifolios (used sequentially), some leaves sewn together, especially for passages cut, [Paris, 1867], the final leaf defective, some tears to margins; together with a copy of the vocal score: first edition, 191 pages, 8vo, plate A.C.1470, Paris: Choudens, [1867]

Catalogue Note
The opening number in Act Two (no.9), was evidently heavily revised and about twenty-four bars cut from the manuscript: they do not appear in the published vocal score either. Subsequently, during the performances, further passages were deleted here in blue crayon.
