Condition
Original canvas.
There are very faint stretcher bar marks visible along the top and bottom edge, with areas of very fine craquelure visible to the left hand edge and up through the yellow pigment in the left hand quadrant, and further fine lines where the canvas stretches over the stretcher bar. There is a further very fine line of horizontal craquelure and possible early lifting visible to the centre of the bottom edge, and further traces of craquelure to the central white pigments. Elsewhere there is very minor surface dirt visible upon close inspection and slight flattening to one or two of the thicker raised globules of impasto. This excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals scattered traces of fluorescence and probable retouchings, including to the extreme edges of the work, perhaps in line with a previous framing, and to the aforementioned spot of craquelure and possible light lifting to the centre of the bottom edge. These have all been executed in a very sensitive manner.
Float-mounted against a white backing in a thick black wooden painted frame.
