Condition
Original canvas, there is an old area of compression and resultant loss in the top right corner, only just visible in the present framing.
There is surface dirt and varnish discolouration, with scattered fine lines of craquelure, principally to the centre third and right hand side of the composition, including to a stretcher bar mark down the upper right hand side. There is a tiny fleck of possible loss in the extreme bottom right quadrant. This excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence and probable retouchings to the extreme edges and in the lower half of the composition.
Housed in a thick gilt and wooden frame.
