Condition

Sound board. There is minor surface dirt and traces of light surface matter and staining apparent, including to the top right quadrant. There is slight rubbing and minor frame abrasions to the unpainted edges of the board, not visible in the present frame, with a further slight area of rubbing to the extreme upper left edge of the composition, only visible upon close inspection. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a couple of very minor flecks of fluorescence which appear in keeping with the aforementioned slight spots of staining, and do not suggest retouching. Housed behind glass in a thick gilt and painted frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present lot.
