Condition
Very good condition overall with some lack of paint at several places, in particular to the base, as can be seen on the photograph. The green paint of her dress appears to have been slightly retouched with some lack of paint to her shoulders and dress. The earlobes have pierced holes probably to hold earrings. One vertical fissure to the back of the bust which has slightly opened.

Catalogue Note
Ce buste en bois sculpté polychrome est une réminiscence des modèles toscans de la fin du XVe siècle et du début du XVIe siècle, élaborés dans l’entourage de Desiderio da Settignano, Mino da Fiesole ou Francesco di Giorgio Martini. L’attitude frontale de la jeune femme, représentée mi buste sur un socle d’un seul tenant rappelle parfaitement le Buste de sainte Constance, dite « La Belle Florentine » conservé au musée du Louvre (inv. no RF 789). Le buste du Louvre, maintenant décrit comme florentin, troisième quart du XVe siècle, présente de nombreuses similitudes avec notre portrait telles que les motifs de brocards rehaussés d’or sur les manches de la robe, les joues d’un rose frais contrastant sur le teint pâle des jeunes femmes, leur long nez droit ou leurs yeux mi-clos.
