Condition
Overall good condition with some natural veining and dents visible to the surface. Two fine horizontal hairline fissures, probably old restored breaks : one in the lower part of her dress, the second starting on the Virgin's proper left shoulder going through the Child's body ending under her proper left arm. A small dent to the Virgin's proper left eye, and a fine natural vein or fissure to the Child's face.

Catalogue Note
Les traits des visages, la nudité et la position de l'Enfant dans le bras de sa mère cherchant le biberon, et la profondeur des drapés sont tout à fait caractéristique des œuvres de la fin du Moyen Age en Touraine au début du XVe siècle. Certains détails vestimentaires, comme le col carré qui laisse apparaître une chemise en dentelle, le manteau à large encolure à revers, ainsi que les manches fronçées de sa robe renvoient vers le milieu du XVe siècle. On peut trouver certains ressemblances dans les profils, le traitement des cheveux et du large manteau à plis profonds la Vierge à l'Enfant trônante du Bourget-du-Lac ou encore dans celle de l'église Notre-Dame à Neuvy-sur-Barangeon (Cher).
