Description

  • Aletto Brothers
  • platinum, ruby, diamond
The flexible band set with numerous calibré-cut invisibly-set rubies weighing approximately 40.00 carats, bordered by round diamonds weighing approximately 5.60 carats, length 7 inches, signed Aletto Bros., numbered 12914.

Condition

In good condition. The rubies are well-matched for color, a medium deep purplish red, eye-clean to slightly included. A few of the stones bear some minor surface-reaching inclusions, and several show some abrading to the facet junctions and girdles, as is typical for stones mounted in this manner. One ruby has a significant chip on its pavilion that is not visible when worn. The diamonds are approximately F-G color, VS-SI clarity. Flexible and very well made, bears a nice heft.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
