Condition

Original canvas, there is a faint horizontal stretcher bar mark along the top edge. There is very slight canvas undulation visible in the top right corner, visible upon very close inspection. There is a tiny pin hole visible in the bottom right hand corner. There is very minor surface dirt. There are minor horizontal lines of very faint craquelure visible to the top half of the red pigment, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals two tiny spots of fluorescence and probable retouchings; the first just below the right elbow and the second to the neck of the subject. Housed in a thick gilt and painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
