Catalogue Note
Informal upright (Moyogi) style. This bonsai style commonly appears in the art of the Lingnan School. The tree trunk incorporates many curves and possesses a natural appearance. The leaves of the Eugenia uniflora are beautiful in shape, and the harmonious colour combination of green leaves and red berries have made the Eugenia uniflora a favourite among bonsai connoisseurs. The tree wood is relatively soft, making it unsuitable for jin, but it possesses strong healing abilities, with beautiful calluses forming from pruning cuts. The lines of the trunk are varied and full of vigor. This bonsai needs full sun and good ventilation. Sets fruit around May.
