Catalogue Note

Slanting (Shakkan) style. Slanting style bonsai were inspired by the images of trees growing next to rivers, their trunks slanting towards the river, their branches reaching down to the water’s surface, full of poetic essence. The bonsai designer has left one horizontal branch on the right-slanting trunk, shifting the center gravity of the tree to the left, bestowing the dynamic form with visual balance.

The Japanese Honeysuckle is a semi-evergreen and is most suited for environments with sunlight but can also survive in the shade. Its soil should be kept moist at all times. The evergreen blossoms with white and yellow flowers between the months of May and July, giving it the name Japanese Honeysuckle.
