Overall, the work is in very good condition. The canvas is unlined and well-stretched. Frame abrasions are present along all the extreme edges of the canvas. Small flecks of paint loss are particularly concentrated within both the mother's and child's clothing. Additionally, flecks of paint loss are visible along the mother's nose and in the right eye of the child. Under ultraviolet inspection, in-painting is present within the mother's face, specifically along the nose and within her lips.
