Condition
Overall, this work is in very good condition. The paint layer is stable. A small area of paint loss is present in the upper right quadrant. Paint loss is also present on the lower left edge of the work (approximately 12 inches from the bottom edge). Under ultraviolet inspection, accretions appear in the center quadrant near the left leg of the central figure. Additionally, small circular areas fluoresce in the lower and upper left quadrants.

Catalogue Note
From 1963 to 1968, Siqueiros embarked on his most ambitious project--the three dimensional mural La Marcha de la humanidad--which encompassed 50,000 square feet. The present painting is an easel version of part of the mural depicting an animal--the mythological Nahuatl attacking a conquistador.
