Condition

Labels on underside of one chair read "8370/ William Birns" and "N.Y. AA" and a partial one with "A"; the other chair with partial label reading "8377"; both stenciled to the front rail "A8309". Repaint and regilt. Age and construction cracks consistent with age and use, not extensive. Gesso with minor chips and losses; most to base of one caryatid, largest measuing 1 1/2 in. One female head with restored break to headpiece. Scattered old worm damage most visible to underside.
