Beresford, platinum print, 1904, mounted; Conrad with J.B. Pinker on holiday in Corsica, 1921; Conrad with Pinker and his sons John and Borys; Conrad with Aniela Zagórska; Conrad on board ship; an elderly Conrad smoking in a deck-chair, early 1924; H.G. Wells, seated, half-length, by Mayall and Newman mounted, signed by Wells on the mount and with an inscription on the image ("This is W.F.R."),  (image size 148 x 100mm); the Conrads' drawing room in their final home, 'Oswalds' in Bishopsbourne, Kent; J.B. Pinker standing with two others; and an unidentified ship; various sizes,1900s-1920s, some silvering and fading to a few other images, one photograph with corner torn and several puncture holes, the platinum print with significant surface wear

Catalogue Note

A fascinating cache of personal and informal images of Conrad. These photographs belonged to J.B. Pinker (1863-1922), one of the most important literary agents of the early twentieth century and a close friend of Conrad (see Part I, note alongside lot 24).
