Condition
This photograph is on sturdy double-weight paper with a semi glossy surface. It is in generally very good condition. Visible in raking light are superficial surface scratches and scattered tiny matte deposits or abrasions overall. Near the lower edge of the image, an isolated area of small impressions that do not break the emulsion is also visible in raking light. These are not immediately apparent when viewing the print under normal conditions, and do not detract from the overall fine appearance of this early print. The thin white margins are worn, with small losses of emulsion, and the tips of the margin corners are bumped or creased.
The following is written on the reverse of the print (in pencil unless otherwise specified): 'photo by Lewis W. Hine'; 'Riveters'; '736'; '21A' [circled]; '81' [circled]; and '4''.' The reverse of the print is soiled and appropriately darkened at the edges.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
