Description
- JEAN ROYÈRE
- Mirror
- oak, mirrored glass and cane
Provenance
Hemisphere Gallery, London, 2005
Condition
Very good overall condition. The wooden surface with a later sensitive finish, and presents with some light surface scratches and minor surface abrasions, consistent with age and gentle use. Some light discoloration to the straw, as seen in the catalogue illustration, less visible when seen in person. Some minor breaks to the straw marquetry have been stabilized. One minor repair to the upper proper-right edge, along approximately 1x2 inches, another one to the interior lower edge, adjacent to the mirror. The mirror is likely original and has a minor chip adjacent to the lower edge. Light separation to the seams. Part of the back panel has probably been replaced and the fastening hardware appears later. A beautiful object showing a highly detailed surface when viewed in person.
