An Illustration to the Uttara Kanda Ramayana: Students at a Gurukul

The illustration depicts Sita bringing her twins, Luv and Kush, to the hermitage of Sage Valmiki and requesting him to take them under his tutelage. The twins are seen at lower left facing each other engaged in learning.

Good overall condition. Some staining to extremities of pink folio border. Small areas of loss and rubbing to pigment on the rectangular floral surround, particularly the upper right corner, visible in catalogue illustration. A few small spots of loss to pigment in the following areas - the foliage on the upper left, the hut and white platform on the middle left, the seated rishi's chest, ankle and knee, and the saffron dhoti of the standing youth. This lot is exhibited in a temporary frame.
