Catalogue Note

The present works are executed on letter paper labeled 25 Quai de Bourbon, an affluent apartment complex located on Île Saint Louis in Paris, 4e Arrondissement. It is possible that Lady Abdy lived here during the time that she served as the main patron for Balthus. See note to lot 66.
