Catalogue Note

Breguet is a brand which needs little introduction as its classic design has an essential place in every watch connoisseur's collection. Reference 3857 was produced in 1997 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Abraham-Louis Breguet. He was considered the leading watchmaker of his day.  His notable inventions include overcoil hairspring, automatic winding mechanisms and most importantly the tourbillon mechanism which originally was an attempt to improve accuracy by counteracting the effects of gravitational pull on timepieces. Nowadays, tourbillons are featured in some of the most complicated and expensive modern watches as a novelty and demonstration of watchmaking virtuosity. This platinum version of reference 3857 offers minute repeater, perpetual calendar and tourbillon, plus jumping hours, retrograde date and leap year indication. Exceptionally complicated and featuring a daring take on Breguet's classic aesthetic, it can easily be considered as the firm's most important modern grand complication wristwatch creation.
